Ambassador Štiglic addresses UNSC's Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict

New York, 19 September 2012 – Ambassador Sanja Štiglic, Permanent Representative of Slovenia to the United Nations, addressed UN Security Council’s Open Debate on Children and Armed Conflict earlier today.

Ambassador Štiglic stressed Slovenia’s commitment to the issues related to the well-being of children and armed conflict, pointing out the work in rehabilitation of children affected by armed conflict performed by Slovenia’s ITF Fund. She acknowledged the important progress which has been made in the last 15 years, since the mandate of Special Representative of Children and Armed Conflict was established. She encouraged the working group to take full use of the toolkit available for tackling these issues and stressed the great success of “action plans, which importantly contribute to the end of grave violations against children on the ground." Slovenia also joined in cosponsoring the resolution adopted at this session.
