Slovenia participates in the interactive dialogue with Nicole Ameline, Vice-Chairperson of CEDAW

New York, 15 October 2012 - Slovenia participated in the interactive dialogue with Nicole Ameline, Vice-Chairperson of the Committee on the Elimination of Discrimination against Women (CEDAW). Ms. Ameline beforehand addressed Third Committee of the UN General Assembly, on the issue of advancement of women, during which she stressed that women were often the first victims of violence, conflicts and discrimination and — at the same time — the main drivers of a fair development.

In his intervention Slovenia’s delegate, Mr. Ponikvar, highlighted the importance that country places on women’s advancement and expressed satisfaction with the Committee’s results. He also urged for the continuation of progress at the same pace also in the future.
